The new Tour AD BB shaft is available in 50, 60, 70, and 80 gram weights.

The Tour AD BB design features an increased stiffness from the tip-to-middle section to provide the player with more stability. The end result is a tighter shot pattern and an increase in ball speed. Tour AD BB was designed with the appropriate amount of flex in the butt section allowing players the ability to load the shaft properly thus creating a sense of power. Tour AD BB shafts will produce a LOW to MID piercing ball flight and reduce spin through impact. The Tour AD BB “Blue Bullet” is the ultimate shaft for 2012. Revolutionary technology, design, and the most advanced materials are trademarks in all Graphite Design shafts, making them the highest quality premium golf shafts on the market today. Validating the company’s “Tour AD” logo, all of Graphite Design’s PGA Tour-proven shafts specifically promote “Accuracy and Distance”. These key competitive advantages are helping professional and amateur golfers optimize their games after switching to Graphite Design shafts. Graphite Design continues to be the most dominant shaft on the JGTO Tour and has been for the past nine years.

Graphite Golf Shafts: Myths, Facts, Trends and the Future

From Grafalloy.com Don Brown, Product Development Manager and Designer Grafalloy, Project X Myth: Low torque shafts have better dispersion: Many golfers believe a lower torque shaft will twist less at impact resulting in improved dispersion. Fact: High speed camera studies have shown that even on a 9 degree torque shaft the ball stays in contact with the face for only thousandths of a second, not allowing for the twisting of the shaft to alter the balls horizontal trajectory. Torque plays a large role in the feel of the golf shaft. The Grafalloy Blue and ProLaunch Red were stiff butt, stiff tip shafts, yet Blue felt much firmer than the ProLaunch Red because its torque was almost a degree lower. As a result, we stopped chasing lower torque and now focus on how we can tune torque to provide the feel that suits the target player profile for a particular design. Shafts designed for penetrating ball flights, such as the ProLaunch Axis Red, will feel best with a torque between 3 and 4 degrees while higher launching shafts such as the ProLaunch Axis Blue work best with a torque of 4 degrees and higher.

Myth: Shaft performance is all about material: Some shaft companies are touting the use of their own or premium fibers to provide ultimate performance. Fact: There are a very few manufacturers of the high and super high modulus fibers used in today's high end golf shafts. Even companies that make high end fiber and use it in their own branded shafts sell these fibers to other shaft manufacturers. Performance gains are made with superior design and understanding of flex/torsional/cross sectional profiles and use of the fibers in cutting edge shaft technologies. While two shafts may use the same Japanese made super high modulus fibers, the shaft designer who is able to best harness the properties of those fibers into technologies such as Smart Ply and Micromesh will be able to maximize the material, the shaft and the swing. Trend: Cross Sectional Stability. Several 2008/2009 golf shafts have touted increased cross- sectional (or hoop) stability. Cross-sectional stiffness (or stability) is the shaft's resistance to ovalization. When a traditional shaft is loaded, its cross section deforms from a circle to an oval. The energy that goes into this deformation cannot be returned to the ball and is lost. Increased cross-sectional stability also provides a more stable feel and improved shot-to-shot consistency. There are several methods for controlling cross-sectional stiffness, with one of the most popular methods being multi-axis weaves. While these weaves have an undeniable aesthetic value, they are a not an efficient way to use carbon fiber. Carbon fiber performs its best when held straight; weaves require the fibers to be curved around one another. Technologies utilizing thin uni-directional carbon fiber layers, such as Grafalloy's Axis Technology, limit cross sectional deformation much more efficiently. Future: The groove change and what it means to your driver. By now everyone has heard about the USGA mandated groove change that will take place effective January 1, 2010. This groove change is intended to reduce the spin golfers can achieve from the rough with existing grooves. With these rolled back grooves, many golfers will switch to a ball that spins more to retain their drop and stop abilities around the greens. This ball change will create an increase in spin with the driver, resulting in ballooned shots and lost distance. Enter Project X. The new Project X wood shafts were designed to be the lowest spinning shafts available. With two additional layers of super high modulus tip reinforcement, Project X has continually shown several hundred RPM reduction in spin over the other premium low spin shafts on the market. The introduction of graphite Project X wood and hybrid shafts means golfers can now benefit from Project X performance in every club, driver through wedge.

TRUE TEMPER PGA PROFESSIONAL TRAINING NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE

5/15/2012 MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The world's No. 1 shaft manufacturer, True Temper announced today that its Professional Fitting Center education and training program for PGA Professionals is now available online to view as a webinar. The long-hitting left-hander shot a final round 68 for a 10-under-par 278 to force an exciting sudden death playoff, in which both pros played Dynamic Gold and Project X graphite.

With 70 sets in play, True Temper shafts were the clear favorite among professionals at The Masters. The victory marked the 76th consecutive win at The Masters for shafts designed and manufactured by True Temper, an incredible distinction for the company and its golf shafts.

"The Masters is clearly one of the most revered tournaments in the history of golf, and the dramatic finish in the final two holes on Sunday and the subsequent playoff really lived up to the event's reputation," says Scott Hennessy, president and CEO of True Temper Sports. "Shafts by True Temper are clearly favored by the best players in the world and that is why every Masters Champion for the past 76 years has had our shafts in their bags."

Featuring an internal tip reinforcement technology and tighter weight sorting tolerance for precision custom fitting, Dynamic Gold shafts are preferred by skilled players who often want a low, penetrating ball flight. Dynamic Gold shafts are available in tapered and parallel irons and parallel woods.

DYNAMIC GOLD SCORES VICTORY AT THE ARNOLD PALMER INVITATIONAL

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - True Temper's Dynamic Gold shined in the spotlight this weekend, delivering pinpoint accuracy shot after shot to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Playing Dynamic Gold, the Arnold Palmer Invitational champion made the most birdies and tied for No.1 in Greens in Regulation. The 2-under par 70 in the fourth round broke the longest drought of his golf career - delivering his 72nd career win, earning him 500 FedExCup points and moving him to No. 7 in the world rankings.

"The electricity in the air on Sunday at Bay Hill was truly palpable, and we're excited to see this year's champion trust his iron performance to Dynamic Gold," says Scott Hennessy, president and CEO of True Temper Sports. "Dynamic Gold generates a low, penetrating trajectory that is preferred by many better players, and its success on tour week after week is one of the primary reasons Dynamic Gold is the most popular shaft on the PGA Tour."

True Temper Sports also celebrated hometown hero and winner of the Chitimacha Louisiana Open on the Nationwide Tour who put on a near perfect display with Rifle shafts in his irons. He fired off a 6-under 65 Sunday to win by a tournament-record eight strokes.

Featuring an internal tip reinforcement technology and tighter weight sorting tolerance for precision custom fitting, Dynamic Gold shafts are preferred by skilled players who often want a low, penetrating ball flight. The Honda Classic champion won his first PGA TOUR event of the year and rose to first in the Official World Golf Ranking with two clutch saves at the end of an exciting final round on Sunday.

The champion wasn’t the only player to rely on Project X this weekend. The Honda Classic’s runner up was playing a Project X PXi shaft in his 2-iron and he shot the lowest final round of his career to edge within one shot of the lead.

“The Honda Classic was another great win for the Project X brand which revolutionized steel golf shafts,” says Chad Hall, director of product marketing and global tour operations for True Temper Sports. “We continue to push the envelope with new innovations such as PXi, which is the most sophisticated steel shaft design in the game today. It was exciting to see Project X continue its winning legacy and I’m confident this weekend’s second-place finish is just the beginning for PXi.”

The PXi shafts incorporate the hallmarks of the Project X line — tour-caliber spin control, penetrating trajectory and unrivaled tip stability — with the benefits of a 10 percent weight reduction. The end result is an iron shaft that delivers maximum club speed with the shot control demanded by the best players in the world.

Behind The Shaft: The Project X Shaft

In early 2008 True Temper’s Product Development Team was given a monumental task: Translate the same performance characteristics of the world-renown Project X steel shaft into hybrid and wood shafts.

The Design Phase
True Temper’s state of the art composite research and development facility in Mira Mesa, California is home to the engineers and technicians who develop, design and prototype some of the best composite sporting goods in the world. It was this Product Development Team that was tasked with crafting graphite shafts that would produce performance worthy of the Project X name.
“Making a graphite shaft to mimic steel performance has been tried before, never very successfully,” said Don Brown, manager of product development. “It is very difficult to design a graphite shaft that can exactly match the perfor- mance of a steel shaft.”
The team started by breaking Project X shaft down to its funda- mental engineering element, its relative stiffness plot (EI profile). With their proprietary design software, the engineers began modeling the first prototypes. The hyper accurate model pre- dicts all the crucial elements of the shaft including frequency, torque and tip stiffness by per- forming more than one hundred thousand calculations for every change made to the design. With the first prototypes com- pleted, it was time for testing.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 271px; height: 400px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-piI0H2z0Faw/T1XL5NJGJWI/AAAAAAAABQg/adLCles4qcQ/s400/project-x-shafts-asia.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716699485657507170" />
Perfecting Project X
“The Project X hybrid shafts were fantastic,” said Greg Cavill, director of metals R&D and design for True Tem- per. “They perform just like the iron shafts and are a great fit for the player looking for Project X playability in their hybrids”.
The wood shafts would need some tweaking, however. While the constant taper rate of the Project X EI did provide the smooth feel and increased ball speeds, the longer length of the driver shaft caused the spin to not be as low as needed for a shaft to bear the Project X name.

Returning to the lab, the engineers had to take this already good driver shaft and make it the ultimate in spin-reducing driver shaft. “We had a good shaft already. The feel was smooth and ball speeds were up, but we needed to optimize the tip section, without sacrificing the positive design elements we had,” Brown said. In addition to controlling the spin, the team also wanted to improve on the feel, bringing the stability of Project X steel to the graphite shafts. By including layers of fiber in a circumferential orientation, the cross section of the shaft was bolstered, providing that unique steel feel. This new prototype, with the reinforced tip and feel improvements went out for testing at a Nationwide Tour event in Fort Smith Arkansas in May of 2008.

True Temper Shafts Shine at the WGC-Accenture and Mayakoba

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Dynamic Gold, Project X and Grafalloy contributed to wins at the WGC-Accenture Match Golf Championship and the Mayakoba Golf Classic, proving once again why more pros trust shafts by designed and manufactured by True Temper Sports.

Relying on Dynamic Gold, the WGC-Accenture Match Play winner beat out a tough field to earn his second World Golf Championship win. Playing the DG Spinner wedge golf shaft by True Temper golf shafts, the Farmers Open champion shot a final round 67 and prevailed in a dramatic two-hole playoff.

The champion trusted the increased spin of DG Spinner to deliver two clutch wedge shots setting up birdies on both the 72nd and first playoff holes. He relied on DG Spinner once more to secure the win with a delicate up-and-down for par from behind the 16th green earning his third PGA Tour title.

In addition to the champion’s use of DG Spinner, True Temper golf shafts dominated the field with the company’s Project X, Grafalloy and True Temper brands taking all Top 10 money positions. According to the shaft count, there were also 134 sets of True Temper golf shafts in play in the Farmers Insurance Open field.

“Control and accuracy are key elements in short game success and there’s no bigger success than winning on the PGA TOUR,” says Chad Hall, director of product marketing and global tour operations for True Temper Sports. “The DG Spinner’s unique design lowers the ball launch trajectory and increases ball spin for enhanced control and greater stopping power. DG Spinner has been in the winner’s circle more than 10 times in just the short time it has been on the global tours.”

The DG Spinner wedge shaft is the latest technology from True Temper’s highly popular Dynamic Gold line of shafts and is specifically designed to lower ball launch and increase ball spin during full- and low-impact swing conditions.
